Stephanie Duggins Davis, MD is the Edward C. Curnen Jr., Distinguished Professor and Chair for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina, and Physician-in-Chief of UNC Children’s. She earned her MD from Bowman Gray Medical School and completed her pediatrics residency and pulmonology fellowship at Riley Children’s Hospital. Upon completion of her training, she joined the UNC Division of Pediatric Pulmonology, ultimately serving as Fellowship Director and Division Chief.  In 2011, she accepted the position as Section Director for Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy, and Sleep Medicine at Riley Children’s Hospital where she remained until her return to UNC in 2018. 

Dr. Davis, a NIH-funded investigator, has led several clinical and translational studies in cystic fibrosis and primary ciliary dyskinesia.  She serves as the contact PI for the NCATS-NHLBI funded Genetic Disorders of Mucociliary Clearance Consortium.  She has over 20 years of experience mentoring trainees, currently serves on the NHLBI K23/K24 Mentored Patient Oriented Research Review Committee and is chair of the NICHD sponsored Pediatric Scientist Development Program selection committee. She has served as President of the Society of Pediatric Research, Chair of the ABP Board of Directors, and Chair of the Pediatric Assembly for the American Thoracic Society.
